Community Connector

This new METRO service is provided through a partnership with the City of Houston and Evolve Houston to serve specific neighborhoods in response to the community's need for convenient access to public transit.

Community Connector is an on-demand microtransit service that bridges the gap between the "first and last mile" of your journey by getting you to a fixed-route service or a destination where access to transit is challenging.

The service uses climate-friendly, electric vehicles that operate within a defined zone. You must download the Ride Circuit app to request a ride anywhere in your designated coverage area.

Common Questions

Service Overview

Community Connector service uses all-electric microtransit shuttles to provide short-distant shared rides in a defined service area. All rides are booked through a mobile app called Ride Circuit.

Currently, the shuttle service operates within most of the Downtown/EaDo, Second Ward and Third Ward communities, though it does not cover the entire area.

The service allows users to request a ride via the Ride Circuit app. Once you request a ride, the shuttle will pick you up and drop you off within the designated service area.

Scheduling a Trip

Download the Ride Circuit app – available via the App Store (iOS devices) and Google Play Store (Android users).

We love getting you where you need to go, but as an on-demand service, we don't currently book/schedule rides in advance. When you're ready to ride simply send us a request via the Ride Circuit app.

The EV microtransit shuttle typically accommodates up to five passengers, and you can reserve up to three seats when booking.

Riding Microtransit

Absolutely! This service is open to everyone and perfect for group rides. In Texas, children must be secured in a booster seat until the safety belt fits them properly (usually between 10-12 years of age). We're unable to provide booster or car seats, so you'll need to bring your own for any children who require them.

Service animals are always welcome. For other pets, please check with customer service for the specific pet policy in your area. Please speak with your driver when they arrive to confirm it's acceptable and remember to follow this pet etiquette:

  • Pets aren't allowed on seats
  • Your pet must stay on your lap or on the floor between your legs at all times
  • Pets must remain inside the vehicle at all times

While the microtransit shuttle doesn't accommodate wheelchairs and other large accessibility equipment, you can still book your ride using the app. You must select the "Accessibility Needed" button when you book your trip, to request assistance.

Other

You can provide feedback directly through the Ride Circuit app after your ride, or call METRO Customer Service at 713-635-4000. We encourage all riders to leave feedback to help us continually improve the service for the community.

An EV Microtransit Shuttle is a small, low-speed, electric vehicle (EV) designed for shared, on-demand transportation. It typically operates on short-distance routes, providing a sustainable and efficient transit option for communities.

EV shuttles are environmentally friendly, producing zero emissions. They help reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and offer a quieter, smoother ride compared to gas-powered vehicles.
