Public Hearings & Notices

METRO often holds public hearings seeking feedback about proposed service changes and more. All meetings are held in-person at 1900 Main Street and accessible via remote video conference. If you’d like to make a public comment, we suggest you register as a speaker at least 48 hours before the meeting. Just send an email to BoardOffice@RideMETRO.org or call 713-739-4834. We’ll need your name, address and telephone number.

By preregistering, your comments will be heard first at the public hearing. Otherwise, you’ll have the option to provide comments after the preregistered speakers. Upcoming public hearings will be posted below.

Public Hearings

All public hearings conform to requirements described in the Federal Transit Administration’s Circular 9030.1E, published January 16, 2014, page VI-7. METRO is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, its transit services on the basis of race, color, or national origin, as protected by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.


Notice is hereby given that the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO), will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to receive public comment on the proposed June 2025 changes to METRO service. The public is invited to attend the hearing and provide comments in person. The public hearing will be held:

Served by METRO routes 6, 11, 32, 44, 51, 52, 54, 82, 85, 102, 137, 160, 161, 162, and METRORail.

Copies of proposed route maps and available timetables will be available beginning on Thursday, April 3, 2025, for public review online and in the lobby of the METRO RideStore, located in the Lee P. Brown METRO Administration Building at 1900 Main St., Houston, Texas 77002 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays.

  • Schedule changes to routes 3, 27, 28, 45, 46, 51, 52, 86, 98, 137, 151, 216, 217, 244, 247, 255, 256, 257, 259, 265, 270, 292, 297 and 298
  • Change in interlocal agreement of the 291
  • Introduction of a new pilot route, the 500 Airport Direct

METRO will continue to make temporary service adjustments in response to changing ridership and workforce availability.

If you would like to make public comments in person or virtually, please register as a public speaker with the METRO Board Office at least 48 hours in advance of the hearing. Call 713-739-4834 or email BoardOffice@RideMETRO.org, and provide your name, address and telephone number.

As explained above, you may attend the public hearing in person or virtually on Thursday, April 10, 2025, to provide comments. If you pre-register, your comments will be heard first at the public hearing. Your name will be called at the appropriate time for you to make your comments.

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) METRO held a public hearing to receive comments on its proposed January 2025 changes to METRO service.

Grant Notices

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO), as the designated recipient of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funds within the Houston Urbanized Area (UZA), is required to publish a program of projects (POP) to satisfy FTA’s public participation requirements. A POP is a list of projects proposed by the designated recipient to be funded from the UZA’s Section 5307, 5337, and 5339 apportionments. Eligibility of the projects within a POP also requires that the Metropolitan Planning Organization (Houston-Galveston Area Council) and State to list the projects in the approved Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). At its March 27, 2025 meeting, the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO) approved the FY2024 Urbanized Area Formula, the FY2024 State of Good Repair and the FY2024 Bus and Bus Facilities Program of Projects. These are the final Program of Projects and are funded with grant support from the United States Department of Transportation Section 5307, Section 5337 and Section 5339.

All projects listed will be supported by local match requirements, including transportation development credits, which is 80/20 federal/local match for capital projects and 50/50 federal/local match for operating projects.

Upon request, METRO provides free language assistance to help patrons who have a limited ability to read, write, speak, or understand English. This is in accordance with METRO’s language assistance plan.
