To prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), METRO has adjusted its services to encourage social distancing. As a result, real-time predictions through METRO’s TRIP app will not be accurate.
Stay informed by subscribing to receive service alerts for the route(s) of your choice. We’ll send real-time, personalized route information straight to your phone or email for free. It takes just seconds to subscribe.

How does it work?
This app is a personalized navigation tool that allows you to quickly and easily manage your trip on local bus or METRORail. It requires a cellular network or wireless connection.
By allowing the app to access your location, you’ll see:
• Nearby local bus and METRORail routes
• Actual arrival times for nearby buses
• Scheduled arrival time for nearby METRORail
The app also allows you to plan your trip so you can get step by step directions for how to go (using local bus or METRORail), how long it’s expected to take, and a link to the METRO Q Ticketing app where you can purchase a ticket to ride with a credit card, PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay.
As part of your trip planning, you can take advantage of the app’s unique My Stop Technology, a personal trip guide that uses Bluetooth to link your app to thousands of beacons in the METRO service area. They allow the app to deliver notifications or pulse vibrations when you’re approaching your:
• Starting bus stop or rail platform
• Transfer point (if applicable)
• Destination bus stop or rail platform
Just plan your trip and watch or listen to your phone to monitor progress.
The METRO TRIP app is compatible with:
• Apple iPhones running iOS 11 and above
• Android phones running an OS of 5.0 and above. Up to 2 versions behind will be supported.

Q: How will my phone get the update?
A: Most smartphones are set to automatically update apps when they are notified that the app has an update available. If individuals have turned off automatic updates, then they will continue to use the previous version of METRO TRIP until they manually update it via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Q: Is there a tablet version?
A: Not at this time.
Q: Is this for iOS & Android?
A: Yes, METRO TRIP is available for iPhones and Android phones.
Q: Does this work with smart watches?
A: Yes, if users have allowed their smart watch to mirror METRO TRIP alerts to their watch, then the same alerts that appear on their smartphone will also appear on their smart watch.
Q: What smartphone OS versions are supported?
A: Phones need to have Android 5+ or iOS 9+.
Q: What happens if a beacon is missing?
A: If a bus stop’s beacon goes missing, then METRO TRIP app will utilize GPS as a backup until METRO can replace the stop’s beacon.
Q: What makes a bus stop smart?
A: METRO has attached location beacons to all of its bus stops to assist with wayfinding. Patrons will see the benefits by using METRO TRIP.
Q: How can I send feedback about METRO TRIP?
A: Inside the app, use the menu to view the "About" page. This page contains a “Send App feedback” feature.

How accurate are the predictions?
The system tracks buses on their routes at least every 30 seconds. The accuracy of predictions varies depending upon many factors including changes in traffic patterns, accidents, detours etc... The closer the bus is to your stop the more accurate the prediction. Generally the service is accurate to within a couple of minutes.
We hope this service helps our customers, but keep in mind the times provided are estimates and certain situations including traffic delays can decrease the accuracy.
You should still arrive at your stop at least 5 minutes before the estimated arrival time, and check the next bus arrivals more than once to make sure the vehicle isn't running faster or slower than when you last checked.
