If a change occurred, it is categorized to represent a (typically) positive, negative or neutral impact on ridership. More details on the observed impacts are noted in the description of ridership results below.

Local Bus

Monthly Total

There were 4,642K boarding in February 2019 compared to 4,665K in February 2018, a decrease of approximately 23K boardings (or less than 1 percent) on local bus service. There was no change in calendar mix and the number of weather days in February 2019 relative to February 2018.

Average Daily Ridership: Weekday / Saturday / Sunday

Average daily ridership decreased on Weekday and increased on Saturday and Sunday. Weekday average daily ridership decreased by approximately 2K boardings (or 1 percent), while Saturday average daily ridership increased by approximately 1K boardings (or less than 1 percent) and Sunday average daily ridership increased by approximately 7K (or 7 percent) in February 2019 compared to February 2018.

​Light Rail

Monthly Total

There were 1,499K boardings on all three light rail lines in February 2019 compared to 1,476K boardings in February 2019, an increase of 24K boardings (or 1 percent). Red line ridership increased by less than 1 percent, Green line ridership increased by 10 percent, and Purple line ridership increased by 6 percent in February 2019 compared to February 2018. The primary factor contributing to the increase was two extra rodeo concerts for February 2019 compared to February 2018.

Average Daily Ridership: Weekday / Saturday / Sunday

Average Weekday ridership on the Red, Green, and Purple lines decreased by less than 1K boardings (or 1 percent), increased by less than 1K boardings (or 9 percent) and increased by less than 1K boardings (or 8 percent) respectively in February 2019 compared to February 2018. Average Saturday ridership on Red, Green, and Purple lines increased by less than 1K boardings (or 4 percent), increased by less than 1K boardings (or 23 percent), and increased by less than 1K boardings or (or 26 percent) respectively in February 2019 compared to February 2018.  Average Sunday ridership on Red, Green, and Purple lines increased by less than 1K (or 2 percent), increased by less than 1K boardings (or 19 percent), and increased by less than 1K boardings (or 19 percent) respectively in February 2019 compared to February 2018 respectively.

There were approximately 6,141K boardings in February 2019 compared to approximately 6,140K in February 2018, an increase of 1K boardings (or less than 1 percent).

Average Daily Ridership: Weekday / Saturday / Sunday

Average local network decreased on Weekday and increased on Saturday and Sunday in February 2019 compared to February 2018.  Average Weekday ridership decreased by 1K boardings (or less than 1 percent), average Saturday ridership increased by approximately 3K boardings (or 2 percent) and average Sunday ridership increased by approximately 8K boardings (or 7 percent) in February 2019 compared to February 2018.

Monthly Total

There were approximately 646K Park and Ride boardings in February 2019 compared to approximately 633K boardings in February 2018, an increase of 13K boardings (or 2 percent).

Average Daily Ridership: Weekday

Average Weekday ridership in February 2019 was 33K boardings compared to approximately 32K boardings February 2018, an increase of 1K boardings (or 4 percent).

Entire Network Summary

Monthly Total

There were approximately 6,787K boardings on the entire fixed-route network in February 2019 compared to approximately 6,773K boardings in February 2018, an increase of approximately 14K boardings (or less than 1 percent). Relevant factors were noted earlier and are included in the table above.

Average Daily Ridership: Weekday / Saturday / Sunday

Average daily ridership for the fixed-route network increased on Weekday, Saturday and Sunday in February 2019 compared to February 2018. Average weekday ridership increased by less than 1K boardings (or less than 1 percent), average Saturday ridership increased by approximately 3K boardings (or less than 2 percent) and average Sunday ridership increased by approximately 8K (or 7 percent) in February 2019 compared to February 2018.
