Sunrise centers provide access to basic healthcare, mental health services, food pantries, clothing and more for students and their families through the Houston Independent School District. METRO representatives will have a table at the event where you can learn about METRO services and safety. Be sure to ask about how K-12 students can obtain a discounted student fare card.
Taking place on the last Saturday of the summer, this fun and family friendly event draws attention to the many varieties of bananas. You can shop at the festive market featuring local vendors, visit with the Garden's horticulturists to learn tips for growing bananas at home, and even purchase a plants from the Garden’s collection. Monarchs and Marigolds traditionally serve as a symbol of remembrance of the past and celebration of the future during Dia de los Muertos. The event will feature vendors selling authentic Latin American arts and crafts, live music, dance performances, and family-friendly themed craft projects.
