METRO, Local Leaders Celebrate New Missouri City Park & Ride
Missouri City residents now have better, more convenient access to the Texas Medical Center and other key Houston destinations, thanks to the new Missouri City Park & Ride.
“The Missouri City Park & Ride not only meets the current mobility demands but is also designed to reflect the continued growth in this area by having plenty of space to accommodate future demand,” METRO Chair Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock said. “I look forward to seeing how this Park & Ride will continue to serve Missouri City and Fort Bend County as well as METRO to keep positively impacting our communities by providing a cleaner, safer, more accessible and reliable transportation.”
METRO official opened the modern transit hub in late January—three months ahead of schedule. Since the opening of the new facility, METRO has seen a daily average of 500 people utilizing the service.
This new facility connects commuters to the Texas Medical Center with seamless transfer options across METRO's broader network, delivering increased mobility and convenience as part of the recently unveiled METRONow plan.
Becky Martin, a benefits specialist and transportation and commuter manager at Texas Children’s Hospital, attended the ribbon cutting and was excited to see this new transit opportunity open up for Texas Medical Center employees who live in Fort Bend County.
“We’ve had a lot of inquiries about METRO and Missouri City and I think this is the perfect opportunity for people to easily park in a garage rather than parking in a service lot and just to be able to relax and go,” Martin said. “The good news about Texas Children’s is that we pay 100 percent subsidy and encourage our employees to use METRO. We need more commuter options because everybody can’t park on campus, and so this is a very attractive offer for them.”
METRO broke ground on the Missouri City Park and Ride back in 2023. Fast forward to 2025, the $60 million facility has 1,750 covered parking spaces and is conveniently located within the Fort Bend Town Center.
Missouri City Mayor Robin Elackatt emphasized the broader impact of the new facility.
“The opening of this METRO Park & Ride isn’t just about buses and buildings. It’s about building an opportunity,” said Mayor Elackatt. “It’s about making sure our city is more connected, more accessible and more prepared for the future.”
