Now you can get real-time estimated arrival information with METRO's new Next Bus Text service.

Here's how it works in three easy steps:

1. Find the bus stop number located at the lower left-hand corner of the bus stop signage.

2. Send a text to 6-9-7-4-3-3.

3. Enter the bus stop number, add a space, enter the route you wish to ride and press send.

You'll receive the next bus arrivals at that location.

Multiple Routes Text

1. Find the bus stop number located at the lower left-hand corner of the bus stop signage.

2. Send a text to 6-9-7-4-3-3.

3. Enter the bus stop number and press send.

You'll receive the next bus arrivals for ALL routes arriving at that location.

A 95-character text limit applies, therefore some arrivals may not be displayed.

How to Read Your Text

Understanding the information provided in your Next Bus Text is crucial to catching your bus. Please see the example below explaining the meaning of each symbol:

48 – Route number
W – Direction (north, south, west, and east and also "I" Inbound or "O" Outbound)
SC – Scheduled time
RT – Real-time estimate

If you cannot agree with these terms and conditions, please do not use the Program. Continued access to the Program by you will constitute your acceptance of any changes or revisions to these terms and conditions.

  • Message & Data rates may apply
  • You agree that the cell phone number you enter in the Program is registered in your name, and that you will not initiate messages to the cell phone of any other person or entity.
  • We provide the Program "as is" and shall not be held liable for your participation in the Program and/or use of the content, information, or material contained therein. We will not be liable for any delays in the receipt of any messages as delivery is subject to effective transmission from your network operator.
  • Promotions communicated via the Program are subject to change at the sole discretion of METRO.

Description of the Program

Short Code 697433 will be used in the Houston, TX area. Each bus stop has an associated stop number. When a patron wants to know when the next bus will be arriving for stop number 101355, for example, the rider texts "101355" to 697433 and a message will be returned with the requested information.

All information collected on this website or the Next Bus Arrival System, including the summary server log information, emails sent to the website, texts sent to patrons, and information collected from web-based forms, may be subject to the Texas Public Information Act, (Chapter 552, Texas Government Code). Please note that, with certain exceptions, the majority of information collected or maintained by METRO may be subject to the provisions of the Texas Public Information Act (Chapter 552, Texas Government Code) for disclosure to the public upon request.
